DofE Volunteering Opportunities

The Volunteering section of the DofE Award is all about making a difference to other people's lives.  Getting off your sofa and taking time out to change things for the better can be great fun.

You'll need to agree the type of volunteering you want to do with your leader, what you plan to achieve and do any training (if you need to) before you get started.  Further information can be found on the DofE Website.

Here are some Exeter volunteering opportunities

Volunteering Opportunity with the Estuary League of Friends

There is an opportunity in the Topsham area of Exeter for volunteers to work with elderly clients of the Estuary League of Friends.  The project is a series of interviews which record people's experiences of past-times and in particular the war years.  It will be very interesting - and may help with history studies.  If there are young people who would like to take part in this exciting project please contact Grace Shephard at Estuary League of Friends.  Tel No: 01392 879294 or email volunteers.estuary@virgin.net.

RSPB Exe Estuary

The RSPB on the Exe Estuary are looking for a Devon DofE group to volunteer on the Exminster reserve to help make benches and picnic tables for the local community to use.  Please contact Gemma Dunn on 01392 824614 for more information if you think you can help.

Volunteering Opportunity for participants aged 16 and above

ISCA Wheelchair Dancers

The Isca Wheelchair Dancers are looking for partners to join in with their dancing classes.  This group meets on Tuesday evenings at a venue on the Quay in Exeter and is for people with a range of disabilities, including some with little or no sight. They are looking for partners who either can dance, or would like to learn.  This group is all about having fun and learning something new at the same time.
