Healthy Youth Work

The procedure for accreditation within the Healthy Youth Work scheme is as follows. It is designed to follow a three year cycle with teams, both area and locality, being assessed by a development worker.

Plan the process

  • Team Leaders/Area Youth Workers meet with Development Worker to plan and timetable the process.
  • Questionnaire distributed and collated.
  • Scheme is adapted to meet local situation.

Internal Audit

  • Evening of discussion with all staff led by development worker in which results of questionnaire are presented. Results are plotted on grid.
  • Strengths and gaps in provision are identified and training needs agreed.

Action Plan

  • Development Worker and Team Leader/Area Youth Worker agree action and timescales.
  • The agreed actions become part of management plan.

Training

  • Staff undertake training as required.
  • Skills are shared within the staff team

Delivery

  • Gaps in provision are clearly addressed.
  • Provision is mapped against the grid

Assessment

  • Team leaders, young people and development worker review provision against grid.
  • Full assessment in year 1 with internal assessment in years 2 and 3
