Assistant Youth Support and Youth Support Workers are required to achieve an NVQ 2 in youth work. Senior Youth Support Workers are required to achieve an NVQ 3 in youth work.

To achieve the level two award, candidates must demonstrate their competence through a portfolio of evidence across six units of the National Occupational Standards for Youth and Community Workers.

The level 3 NVQ requires candidates to demonstrate evidence across eight units form the National Occupational Standards for Youth and Community Workers.
