The Offer

Young people, aged 13 to 19, who are residents of Devon are entitled to:

1.1 Be supported, challenged and enabled to learn in order that they may realise their full potential in shaping their own lives.
1.2 Be socially and economically included so that they can contribute to, influence and be valued as part of their communities and of society as a whole.

Young people will be supported by Devon County Council Children and Young People’s Services to:

2.1 Enjoy good health and a healthy lifestyle.
2.2 Know how to stay safe and have their welfare safeguarded.
2.3 Enjoy and make good progress in learning, leisure and personal development.
2.4 Take responsibility and play a productive part in their community.
2.5 Have a good start in life in order to achieve their full potential and secure meaningful employment.

Have somewhere to go and something to do

Young People are entitled to

3.1 Access safe meeting places and youth work projects offering a range of personal and social development programmes across Devon.
3.2 Have easy access to information on a wide range of positive leisure and recreation activities that meet their interests.
3.3 Be involved in the planning, decision making and evaluation of all Devon Integrated Youth Support Service led projects.
3.4 Be supported to influence strategies and access services which are developed to meet their additional needs.
3.5 Be supported to identify personal challenging targets and to have their achievements recorded, accredited and celebrated
3.6 Have access to experienced and skilled people who can respond effectively to their additional needs.

Have access to Information, Advice and Guidance

Young people are entitled to:

4.1 Have access to impartial and comprehensive information, advice and guidance on a wide range of issues within every learning community area, secondary school, college and youth work setting.
4.2 Be involved in defining and developing what information, advice and guidance is made available to them.
4.3 Have access to trained information, advice and guidance workers who will provide an appropriate response to their issues and will support them to make informed decisions.

Volunteer and take part in voluntary action opportunities

Young People are entitled to:

5.2 Have access to a range of opportunities to be a volunteer or take part in voluntary action within their local community.
5.3 Be supported to make informed choices about the nature of their voluntary action and to participate fully in volunteering opportunities.
5.4 Receive recognition and accreditation for their volunteering and voluntary action.
5.5 Be involved in the identification, design and development of accessible volunteering opportunities.

Be active citizens in their communities

Young people are entitled to:

6.1 Actively influence the development of local youth centres, clubs and groups, mobile and street based provision.
6.2 Have access to the UK Youth Parliament and to participate in elections as candidates and as voters.
6.3 Have access to and participate in the Devon Get Ur Voice heard project.
6.4 Be supported to be involved in local youth work networks, forums and councils.
